In class we have been looking at what we can do to strengthen pieces of our writing, an informative example that we read was How to Say Nothing in 500 Words and I really liked that piece. It was incredible relateable to my high school English career and I found that to be pretty funny. The most important thing that I learned from that piece was what to avoid, things like "I think, in my opinion, and I believe" are entirely useless because obviously that's what the writer thinks because that is what they are writing. I plan on personally trying to improve what that piece brought up to improve my writing.
This year was probably the best Thanksgiving for me in my opinion. The difference from cafeteria food to coming home and having a full home cooked meal was astronomical. Personally I am not the biggest fan of turkey so I suggested to my parents that we possibly did steaks from our local meat market rather than cook a turkey, surprisingly everyone was on board and so this year we ended up doing Thanksgiving a little differently. In accordance to our Polish herratige we accompanied the steak with Perogies and Kabasa. On top of those we had cranberry muffins, green bean supreme and loaded potatoes and stuffing. Overall the meal was awesome and it was good to finally get home to see my family as it was my first time back.

For this week I will be writing a review for a tv show called "Last Week Tonight." It is hosted by John Oliver, its a comedic wist on the most recent weeks events re capped in a single episode. Honestly its less biased than most news sources and it is more funny than most popular tv shows in my opinion. The comedic twist allows him to bring up events and maintain a good mood for him and the audience, no matter how hard the truth. The show itself is designed to be easy to digest while being accurate and unbiased.

College is exhausting, I think that we could all use a little r and r. I cannot wait for Thanksgiving break. I personally will be using my break to catch up on some much needed sleep and eat some non-cafeteria food. Don't get me wrong, I love college but I seriously need a week long nap. Besides napping this Thanksgiving I am pretty excited because instead of traditional turkey my dad will be grilling us some sirloins. We know it will be cold out but we also know that the steaks will be worth it!
In class we have been talking about underlying themes in different pieces. I find this to be very important for me because sometimes reading between the lines can provide a lot more information that reading what is explicitly stated. I think that most people don't bother to learn this ability, I know that I personally do not focus on it in day to day life but studying it in English class gives it new importance for me.

Alright, for this post I will talk about the movie I used for my analysis, Fury. Fury really impressed me and was absolutely riveting. I recommend this movie highly if you are at all into WWII. The story was about a few men in a tank named Fury, the whole movie follows the perspective of a new crew member who has to adapt to the lifestyle and horrible pieces of war. It had a really interesting way of not glorifying war unlike most movies in my opinion. I think that this movie gives a great and accurate snapshot of what war is really like and in my opinion is the best war movie I have ever seen.

Alright, since I can talk about any topic for this blog post I think i will talk about Cilantro's. Cilantro's was a recent discovery of mine and i think it may completely change my experience at Western. Cilantro's, for those who are unfamiliar is a place in valley 1 dining that serves burritos similar to Qdoba's, but with much lower quality. Cilantro's is a great place to eat when anyone wants more of a variety or a change from wherever they typically eat. While it is not my favorite place to eat on campus it easily is in my top few and when im looking to change things up the the future I will definitely head over to Cilantro's.

Today I will be writing about a topic of my choice; magic. Recently I became interested in magic tricks, I have learned a few fundamental tricks which can be combined in many ways to create the illusion of magic. Before I came to western I was asked to teach a class for our local Rec Department, for the elementary students. I had to come up with the topic to teach and I sort of arbitrarily chose magic with a friend who will be my co-teacher. neither of us actually knew any magic so we have set out to learn some together to come back and teach a class and give back to the community.

Today I will be writing about some points I found quite intriguing in class. The first being how readers can have so many questions and writers have to be aware and prepared to answer any and all that can and will rise without any immediate feedback from readers. The foresight required to produce a quality piece is quite incredible, I hope that throughout this year I can acquire this talent. The second point I would like to bring us is when people read work and see different things than what the author intended. I believe that an author clearly showing a reader what they want them to see is probably the most difficult thing while producing writing. I am impressed with some of my classmates abilities to perform this task however.

Alright, this blog I am doing a topic of my choice which will be Happy's Pizza. Last night was the first night I was able to try some Happy's Pizza. I ordered off the web and was greeted with a multitude of options, since there were so many I had never tried on a pizza I decided that I would try something I have never done. I ordered a jalapeno cheese pizza at a pretty reasonable price and had it delivered straight to my dorm which was quite convenient. The pizza itself was absolutely amazing, I would try to describe it but there is no way I can do it justice. Since I cannot describe it all I can do is urge everyone to try it as soon as they can.

In class we discussed how we can tie different inferences together to begin to see a character or idea behind simple observations and small clues throughout different pieces. What is really interesting to me is that writers can craft entire characters, themes, and ideas, then convey them to readers without actually stating any of it. We also focused on elements that will allow our readers to see what we are writing rather than be told or have it reported to them. I see this all as very valuable for writing, storytelling and just talking or writing in general. I hope I can retain all of the things I am taught so I can apply everything to my own writing.

Hello, my name is Andrew Walski and I am an Exploratory student at the moment. A few of my many interests include athletics, technology and food. In high school I was a varsity athlete in Football, Wrestling and Track, also I was a captain of the Wrestling team. I played Middle Guard in Football and ran the 100m, 200m, and 400m in Track. As for technology I enjoy more than video games, I built my own PC, I am experienced in Auto Cad, and have tried my hand in some animation. Lastly food is so important to me that I don't think I could live without it. To me there is nothing better than a perfectly cooked sirloin next to some cheesy potato wedges sprinkled with bacon. This is a little bit about me, i'm excited to learn a little bit about all of you.
